Many people will eventually need to have their wisdom teeth removed. There are two main scenarios in which this becomes necessary: if the tooth is unable to emerge from your gums or if it can only emerge partially. In both cases, there are potential risks to your oral health if the wisdom tooth is not removed.

For example, an impacted tooth may damage surrounding teeth by pushing them, resulting in crowding and bite problems. Similarly, a partially erupted tooth can lead to gum inflammation, which creates the perfect environment for bacteria to grow and cause gum disease. Ultimately, it is important to consult with a dentist to determine if removal of your wisdom teeth is necessary to protect your oral health.

If you think you may have an impacted wisdom tooth, be sure to see your dentist for an evaluation. They will be able to determine whether the tooth needs to be removed.

We are committed to making a positive impact in the lives of individuals who may not have had access to proper oral healthcare before. What is the recovery duration for the procedure?

After having a tooth pulled, it’s normal to feel anxious about the recovery process. While everyone heals at a different rate, the average time for full recovery is about 7-10 days. You can expect to return to certain everyday activities sooner—you can carefully brush your teeth after 24 hours and resume other activities, such as working and exercising, after a few days.

The recovery process also includes following pain management directions from the dentist, which may involve icing your jaw or utilizing pain medication.

We want you to feel comfortable throughout the entire process, so please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
